In March 2016 I presented at the NACADA Region 4 Conference in Orlando, Florida (co-presenter was Stephanie Wood of the Auburn University School of Nursing). After the presentation, we hosted a round table discussion on the topic of Millennials and Helicopter parents. The presentation and discussion was attended by 30-40 academic advisors from four different state and the Caribbean. Please see the abstract by clicking on the program cover to the left.
In October 2015 I presented at the NACADA Annual Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada (co-presenter was Nicole Gaillard of the Auburn University - University College). The presentation discussed tips and tricks of traning a new academic advisor who is similar in age (or younger than) the students they will be advising. The presentation and discussion was attended by roughly 40 academic advisors from all over the country. Please see the abstract by clicking on the program cover to the right.
In March 2009 I presented a poster at the College Student Educators International (ACPA) Annual Conference in Washington DC (co-presenter was David Diramio, Ph.D. - Administration of Higher Education Faculty at Auburn University). Prior to the conference I researched the growing trend of Colleges and Universities requiring an Abroad experience as part of the undergraduate graduation requirements. This was an especially interesting topic as the country was in a recession and student funding was a growing concern. Please see the abstract by clicking on the program cover to the left.
